    Examples of robotic molding applications

    COMPRESSION MOLDING: SMC

    The SMC (Sheet Molding Compound) is a semi-finished product containing chopped reinforcement fibers and resin, with the added advantage of very fast press-processing times. GEBE2 produces robotic cells for loading raw materials into molds, unloading parts and finishing.

    PRESS CASTING: RIM (REACTION INJECTION MOLDING)

    As part of the production of two-component polyurethane or polymer parts using the RIM process, GEBE2 offers complete systems that comprise:

    • The injection machine
    • Presses or mold carrier
    • Automated injection by robotic casting or closed mold injection
    • Automation and end-to-end supervision of the production process

    RTM (RESIN TRANSFER MOLDING) PREFORMING AND CURING

    These islands enable end-to-end production of a composite part starting from a material blank laid out flat. The production steps are as follows:

    • Heating the material
    • Preforming
    • Material laid in the mold
    • Mold loaded in the press
    • Curing on the press with heating trays
    • Mold cooled and released

    ULTRASONIC CUTTING

    Using ultrasonic cutters to cut composite materials provides a high level of precision and a perfect cutting quality. The high-frequency vibration of the sonotrode prevents adhesion to the blade, thereby minimizing maintenance interventions, and cauterizes, thus avoiding delamination of the fibers.

    When fitted on a robotic system, this SONIMAT technology makes it possible to cut semi-finished products into shape: aramid, Kevlar, honeycomb, nomex, glass fiber, prepregs.

    • Thermoset: up to 25mm multi-ply with carbon fiber reinforcement
    • Thermoplastics: up to 6mm of PPS plates with carbon reinforcement
